For the past 20 years I have been a TV writer and producer for everyone from the History Channel and HGTV to President Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey.  I loved my career, but it was always my dream to be a published author. Ever since I was a little kid! My dream came true in July 2016 with the release of my first picture book, When Penny Met POTUS by Capstone Young Readers.

The idea for the book came to me while I was working on President Barack Obama's re-election campaign in 2012. When I came home from work each night, I got all kinds of questions from my curious 3 year-old daughter about POTUS. "Is POTUS allergic to peanut butter?" "Does POTUS like the color red?” And the one I got most often: “When can I meet POTUS?”  A meeting was a tall order, but I was determined to make it happen for her.

On a chilly Saturday in November, at a campaign rally in Milwaukee, just days before the election, it happened! The brief meeting between my daughter and President Obama that afternoon planted the seed for When Penny Met POTUS.

To date, I have written eight children's books, and I'm working on more. I can't wait to share them with you!
